It’s only the beginning of November, but already I’m getting excited about the thought of Christmas and all the crafting the holidays will bring. The Hooligans and I just LOOOOOVE our Christmas crafting. Last year we aimed for a different Christmas craft every day in the month leading up to Christmas, starting November 25th. Most of the crafts we made were tree ornaments. All of the ornaments that you’ll see here were simple to make, and most were made from simple materials that you probably already have around your home.
Roll up a piece of sheet music (you could also use a page from a book), and attach a button and a bow.
Cut a small “wreath” from some cardboard (cereal or food boxes are great for this kind of thing). Cover it with crumpled tissue paper & attach a ribbon with some glue.
Cut a Christmas tree out of some corrugated or sturdy cardboard. Paint green and
wrap with colourful wool.
Icicles: String beads onto pipe cleaners. Form a loop at the top of the pipe cleaner.
Cut a small cardboard wreath out of a cereal or food box. Paint it a festive colour, and glue buttons/pearls all around.
Glue three puzzle pieces together (you may want to prep this ahead of time with a glue gun). Have children paint pieces brown. Attach googly eyes and a red pompom nose.
Cut a candy cane shape out of cardboard. Paint red and wrap with white wool. (we attached our wool with a stapler).
I Spy Ornaments: Remove top from plastic ornament and fill with fake snow and a variety of tiny items (Lego, paperclip, foam shapes etc). Attach a list of things to look for if you’re giving this as a gift.
Glue popsicle sticks to form a triangle, and paint green. Attach a piece of cardboard or card-stock as a trunk. Decorate tree with pompoms and foam shapes.
Form two triangle with popsicle sticks and glue together. Have children paint sticks white and attach coloured gems with glue. (this one is missing a few gems, but these were really pretty!)
Cardboard, rick-rack, buttons, googly eyes and a ribbon. So cute!
Cut small mitts from felt. Use cotton balls for cuffs, and decorate with buttons. String together with a piece of wool.

Saw your popsicle stick tree floating around Pinterest – I’ve been just waiting for Christmas break so the kids would be free to make them. I ♥ how they turned out – thanks for the idea! Will have to try that candy cane, too! Merry Christmas!
